STEP 1: You're already here and that's one of the hardest parts - finding us! Have a look around and read and enjoy. I suggest wandering around the board The Locker Room to read the Rules and the Application Process. If you are considering an OC application, be sure to read the addendum to the application process as well. If you can, contact an Admin (Penn is usually kicking around on Yahoo Messenger at daniel_pennell) and give them your spiel.
STEP 2: So you've read the rules and still want to join. Congratulations! Go ahead and register your character name, please do not use your real name or a generic name. When you register to join, your account needs Admin approval before proceeding. This can take up to 24 hours so be patient! Once your account approved, you will recieve an email at the account you used to sign up with an activation key. Activate your account quick as you have seven days from the Admin approval to post and let us know what you are planning to do as inactive new accounts are purged after seven days of non posting.
STEP 3:Character Applications, cut and paste the appropriate Application Template (Canon or OC) into Word or some other word processing program and then start filling it in. Please don't plagiarize any source material for Canon Characters... we look for this and really don't appreciate it. The point of the application to make sure you can write as much as introducing us to your character. This is after all a text-based Role Play. At this point, if you're applying for a Canon Character, you might also want to slap a note in the thread Current Taken/Reserved List to let people know you are interested in a character.
STEP 4: Your application is filled out... now what? Well, post it as a new thread in the Character Applications sub-board and wait for the Admins to do their work approving the application. If you receive questions or concerns from the Admins during this time, please take them into consideration. We're not making your life difficult, but keeping the balance of the board. Keep in mind that our board is set right before Astonishing X-men started (around 2004) so try to keep everything about your character around that time.
STEP 5: You've been waiting... how do you know you have been approved? While we try to contact you and tell you, we might not always remember, but if your thread is moved to the Approved/Active Characters thread and locked, congratulations! You're cleared to post so have at it and most importantly, have fun!
There is a 2 character maximum for right now. This could change in the future but for right now, you're only allowed to have two at one time. Each character must have their own account and the application must be made from their account. Third characters will be considered on a case by case basis and only for those players who have proven they can keep up with the demands of posting for two characters or if one of the three characters will be a rarely used one.
IMPORTANT!! Please remember we are a COMIC based board and prefer that you use images from comics for your character instead of celebrities or actual people. Put another way, if you use a real picture for your icon or signature, don't be surprised if it vanishes. Also, there are limits on signature sizes, so keep it within the parameters people.
PLEASE NOTE! In order to keep from being deleted before you have a chance to post an application, make sure you send an admin an IM to let them know what's going on. Sometimes Real Life whallops us, and if you need extra time, no worries, but be aware that you need to contact an Admin or you risk having your account deleted in one of the regularly scheduled board clean ups.
